Something from the past

So during the past year, I have started a website called itsSomethingLikeMe.com (which does not exist anymore) used as an online blog and a webpage to put some photos that I captured. It was something different for me, something that I needed to get my procrastination levels down. It was pretty much something that I actually never put the time to it.

First of all, I like writing stuff. I like writing my thoughts on different topics. However, these thoughts are not always completed. It’s something like a singer who just thought of an excellent chorus but didn’t think the rest of the lyrics. I am constantly typing on my phone something like ‘Create a new post on the road to caffeine free’ or ‘Originality: Everything you do is original since no one has the exact same experiences, the same past or future’. I never got to complete these thoughts because I constantly get distracted by something else. Whether it is university modules or the multiple TV series I am currently watching.

Time is a tricky thing. It’s something that always exists, but you do not really include it in every decision. Based on my experience, I always thought about optimising my time and being more productive to achieve more things. Still, I always forgot to include the variable time. So I started watching videos on YouTube on how to be more productive or minimise the time to do a task instead of simply doing it. It would have saved me so much time, but anyway, I did it. Despite having the knowledge to do this task, I used to postpone it because I just didn’t want to face the fact that I didn’t do it sooner.

I need to say that you cannot count the time needed for a task since it’s not just the task itself but the entire progress for you to do the task. It might be something you can do in a few minutes or something that you need to get some experience first and then do it.

Some people have their whole life figured out. This includes finishing high school at 18, university at 22, then go for a Masters degree or get a job in their field of study, marry at 35 and retire at 65. It took me almost 4 years after being in denial to realise that it’s the exact opposite of that. For me, this was my first and only choice. I finished university at 22 and then pursued a Masters degree without knowing what I truly want to do with my life. This includes job opportunities, major life choices or even everyday tasks like cooking.

After fighting with myself on that, I have come to terms with the fact that I need more time to think about what I need, and I am okay with it. To this day, I had a specific point of view that anyone needs to use as much time as possible to make himself a better person. However, it seems that once again, I have forgotten the variable of time. Each person needs a different amount of time to do something. It might be 10 minutes to write a post or 2 hours or even some days, but it will be worth it in the end. You might need to relax for a few days or even take a break from what you do. Still, in the end, one way or the other, if you truly value and admire your own work, you will do a fantastic job no matter the time spend on it.
